My advice is this…
Below is Rains phone number.  I recommend calling using skype, or something similar, to save money. The international code for India is 0091, while in India you only need to use the remainder of the number.

Once in India, I recommend buying an indian SIM card for your mobile phone (take an old mobile, in case you loose it). I used an Indian SIM while I was there, its really cheap when phoning home to the UK and sending texts back home too. This also means Rain can call you and you can call him. Buying an Indian SIM card was one of the best moves I made on my trip.
I have also included my email address below, should anyone want to ask me any questions. Rain does not have internet access (nor do most people in India). Although internet access is freely available for tourists, you do have to pay for it and for people struggling to live day to day, its and expense they cant justify (so, thats why Rain doesnt have email).
